Dani García has landed in the capital, in Jorge Juan Street, with his new restaurant Lobito de Mar. This is the first branch of the one he already has in Marbella, with which he has achieved great success and good reviews. No less should be expected… After BiBo, Lobito was the “casual” concept beyond his three Michelin stars, with a sea–focused menu, more feasible prices and the possibility of table reservations or staying in the lively bar area.
In Madrid, the approach is the same, with a beautiful and elegant place that is accessed through the spectacular bar, always full of people in front of the fish or the marine sausages counter. In the bar menu you will find exquisite offers such as rich brioches of tuna belly, small sardines, bologna or marine sobrasada, as well as cod fritters or sea tripe with chickpeas.
In the restaurant, tuna and rice are the stars. There are also espetos, the delicious roasted sardines traditional from Costa del Sol. There is a complete ode dedicated to tuna with several proposals such as tartar of different parts of the fish or the T–bone steak carpaccio. There is not always everything available, as the menu is printed daily with what arrives from the harbour: prawn of Huelva, shrimp of Sanlúcar, mullets of Marbella, gallon of Conil, Galician fat clam…
The best of each fish market accompanies seven rice preparations that range from the classic seafood and fish to the mellow rice with lobster, but there are also other more elaborated such as eel rice, lardo rice and nori smoked seaweed rice.
Do not forget to try one of the cocktails from their impressive offer. A suggestion? Just for
the staging, ask for a Dragon’s Heart (or two), and just relax and enjoy; the
experience at Lobito de Mar is worth it.
